Meizu has confirmed at the CES 2014 event they are not releasing the current version of the MX3 in the United States. They did not give an exact name for their new device, but it will certainly have 4G LTE and possibly some other hardware modifications. However, rumors from Mobiltelefon.ru say it will be called the MX3S and will feature a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at 2,2GHz. The MX3S may also feature a fingerprint scanner. Mobiltelefon.ru also says it will be released in Q1 2014, which conflicts with Meizu’s officially announced United States release date in Q3. To be sure if these rumors are true, we have to wait for the official announcements from Meizu.
The MX3 versions shown at the CES 2014 event are M353’s running Flyme OS 3.1.2 (I15566). This means it are regular MX3s running an unreleased international (Hong Kong/Russian etc.) firmware. We hope Meizu will release this firmware version soon, since they’re behind on schedule with international firmware versions.
