Meizu France Paris Press Conference 1

Although the info that the Meizu MX3 would be for sale at Boulanger was leaked a couple of days ago, Meizu held their official press conference in Paris yesterday. During the conference, Meizu revealed they have sold 20 million smartphones in total and claim 6 percent of the Chinese market. Meizu also mentioned that they have 2200 staff in total, with 1000 assigned to R&D. Previously, the United States was the first country where Meizu was planning to expand to this year, but these plans have changed. Meizu will make its debut on March 31 in France! Unfortunately, United States residents will have to wait until Q3 this year. It’s clear that Meizu uses France as a test market for Europe and further worldwide expansion; “Nous voudrions faire une démonstration en Europe”. The MX3 is the model that will be for sale at various retail outlets, priced at €449 for the 16GB version, €499 for the 32GB version and €549 for the 64GB version. Sales outlets include various large retailers including Amazon, Expansys, Fnac, Darty and Boulanger of course. It will also be possible to purchase it directly through MVNO Virgin Mobile. Meizu also mentioned that their upcoming phones will be equally (or even more) expensive that they’re working on a 4G phone: “Nous aurons un produit 4G, il est déjà dans les placards”. Lastly, opening a physical store is still being researched by Meizu and should not be expected before 2015. More pictures down below:
